AR education and brand opportunity

The opportunity for Augmented Reality to enhance the learning experience is one that is increasingly being recognized by educators. And it’s a space that AR developers are keen to exploit. Recently in the UK, app developers ooh-AR launched a GCSE Maths revision tool to enable students to have a more immersive learning experience.

The app allows learners to interact with animated graphics and there are voice-overs to explain the mathematical concepts. Certainly AR and education seem to be a match made in heaven, addressing a need for new learning tools to capture the attention of today’s digital natives combines. The development costs of such apps however can be high, particularly to develop stimulus material that will match the expectations and experience of today’s youth audiences.

We can expect that marketers will see the opportunity to see education as a key area for their content marketing strategies. In addition to brand sponsorships of such apps in a traditional exposure based model, we can also expect to see brands creating content to support educators.
